Rev. Jesse Voyd Bottoms, Jr. is a native of Louisville, KY and is the second of three children of the late Dr. Jesse V. Bottoms, Sr. and Mrs. Florence Carter Bottoms.
Raised in Louisville, KY, he is a product of Louisville public schools. His academic work was at Kentucky State College, Frankfort, KY, Simmons Bible College, Louisville, KY, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. He is presently pursuing Doctoral studies at Faith Seminary, Tacoma, WA.
He served as pastor of the Second Baptist Church, Fairfield, KY from 1967 to 1977. September 1977 he assumed the pastorate of the Beulah Baptist Church, Poughkeepsie, New York, where he presently serves. The Beulah Church has experienced holistic growth and development under his leadership. Buildings have been built, property purchased, budgets increased, church taught to “tithe”, members added, mission projects funded, Community Development Corporation formed, community impacted, aggressive Soul Winning program implemented, adopted church in Uganda, ministers raised up and sent out and God glorified during his tenure.
The church adopted a New Orleans Pastor, that they did not know, who lost everything in hurricane Katrina and paid his salary for a year. The source for his greatest joy and pride is that during the year of 2006, that through the Beulah Baptist Church, 382 decisions were made for Jesus Christ. Additionally, Pastor Bottoms teaches the Beulah members how to get out of debt and to live “Debt Free” lives. His writings include, “The Medicine Man” a book of humor in the Black Church. “Solid Foundations,” a 13 Lesson New Member Orientation Manual, “A Training Manual For Associate Ministers” a guide for equipping associate ministers, “The Exit Interview,” a manual to assist in planning and preparing your own funeral and exit, “One Hundred and Four Reasons Why I Tithe,” providing one to use every Sunday for two years, “Developing A Tithing Church,” a training manual to teach tithing, “Operation Kick-Butt” a Stop Smoking program for the local church and “The Bottoms Five Sermons” thirty volumes of five sermons each.
Pastor Bottoms also developed the “I’m Going” button and brochure, the simplest and effective soul winning tool in wide use throughout the nation.
In addition to serving as pastor of the Beulah Baptist Church, he serves as chairman of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Committee of Dutchess County, President of the Dutchess County African American Clergy Association, Chairman of the Board of The Beulah Community Development Corporation, Director of Evangelism of the Central Hudson Baptist Association, Trustee Simmons College of Kentucky, Teacher National Baptist Congress Of Christian Education, Lecturer/Instructor of the Empire Baptist Missionary Convention of New York, Owner Jubilee Book Store & More, Owner ClergyConnections.Com, ImGoing.org, SermonsToPreach.Com, CEO of Jubilee Christian Ministries and President of Jubilee Development Enterprises, Inc. Pastor Bottoms is sought out as a preacher/evangelist/lecturer, especially in the area of Christian Stewardship, Tithing, Biblical Principles of Financial Management, Soul Winning and Discipleship. Additionally, Pastor Bottoms serves on the Board Of Evangelism of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc and as Vice President At Large of the Congress Of Christian Education of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
He is the father of five, grandfather of five and husband of one Jacquette Delorse Hull Bottoms.
